About
Parker is the mascot of the Tainan Children's Science Museum. He grew up from a small seed in Tainan Park.
This time, he wears a jumpsuit and turns into a photoelectric boy, using the light waves to call the cute photoelectric source. Please come and join us!
< Paging Parker>
In this mission, Parker discovers some unique sounds and he wants to send them back to the base for analysis.
Parker connects a visible light beam to a solar panel and successfully sends the sound back without wires.
< Rotating for Electricity Challenge>
Parker and his folks came to this special device and they decided to play an exciting rolling game and find out who is the winner. Join them for this race!
< Illusion Projection >
Parker is out on a mission. He calls for support with the illusion projection device. Do you know what is the scientific principle behind the illusion projection device ?
< Colorful Transformations>
Standing in front of colorful lights, Parker is summoning his colorful clones. Why would there be different shadows in different colors?
Colorful shadow can happen if the object is translucent and colorful, or there are more than one light sources in different colors.
A collection of the principles of light and electricity! We make tough scientific principles in a fun way.
Let's explore the scientific world of photoelectric with the photoelectric boy!

About
When we look up at the sky, thousands of stars are shining at night.
With the naked eye, each star looks like a small dot.
However, if we see it through a telescope, is that really a dot?
With the light pollution, star-gazing seems to be difficult.
This exhibition will show you the photos taken by TAEA.
Through the telescope and camera, there are many interesting and beautiful celestial bodies can be seen.
Details of the Moon, planets and nebulae are really amazing!

About
Diseases Prevention Combat Camp’’ is a permanent exhibition about five infectious diseases, Dengue fever, Enterovirus, Tuberculosis, AIDS and Influenza in National Science and Technology Museum in Kaohsiung. It is jointly curated by National Science and Technology Museum (NSTM), Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and National Health Research Institutes (NHRI). More than 1.8 million visitors have visited the exhibition and the average number of repeated visits has exceeded 5 times, which is very popular among primary and secondary school students.
Thanks for Tainan city government’s invitation NSTM moved the two themes of Diseases Prevention Combat Camp - Dengue Fever and Influenza to Tainan Children's Science Museum this time. Besides, NSTM also set up an area about “Wolbachia - Dengue Vector Control Approach.
Through introducing how the virus spreads, the symptoms of infection and also prevention methods by easily understood pictures and texts, the exhibition inspires the audience’s interest to understand infectious diseases actively and apply the knowledge in life, which is helpful of reducing the threat of infectious diseases.
Visitors entering the camp can obtain a Hero Card. After taking pictures and completing the registration, the participants can start the challenge! With 4 missions and 5 stages in the camp, the participants are free to repeat the challenge and the points will be accumulated on Hero Cards. The description of 4 missions is as follows:
i. Crime Scene
This game has two modes including indoor and outdoor. Audience find out where is the mosquitoes’ breeding grounds indoors and outdoors through the shooting game.
ii. House of Aedes Mosquitoes
Observe the four life stages of vector mosquitoes through the AR(augmented reality), and then use the game card to find out the characteristics of dengue fever, which is a disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.
iii. The Immunisation Speedster
This is a motion sensing running game, and you can learn how to develop good habits during the game to prevent the influenza.
iv. Disease Prevention Battle Stage
Five players participate in at the same time to find out who have the most knowledge of epidemic prevention through the floor game competition.
At the end of the camp, the participants can check their score in Scoring Zone. Certificates will be award by score and the top 8 participants will get on the Golden Warrior leaderboard.
Apart from anti-epidemic interactive multimedia games, there is an area about “Wolbachia - Dengue Vector Control Approach” which has been researched by National Mosquito-Borne Diseases Control Research Center, NHRI. “Wolbachia” are natural bacterial present in up to 65% of insect species and have the following characteristics: (1) Wolbachia is not usually found in the Aedes aegypti mosquito. (2) Wolbachia could block dengue virus replication in Aedes aegypti. (3) The offspring that male Aedes aegypti with Wolbachia and female Aedes aegypti without Wolbachia produced were not able to hatch. (4) The offspring that male and female Aedes aegypti with Wolbachia produced were Wolbachia-carried. Obtaining above characteristics, the scientists inject Wolbachia into Aedes aegypti. It might decrease Aedes aegypti’s ability to transmit dengue virus and then prevent Dengue fever in the long-term if we release the Aedes aegypti with Wolbachia.
Being able to collect souvenir stamps in the exhibition, visitors who complete collection can buy National Science and Technology Museum groups concession tickets; in addition, participants who get into top 8 in the interactive multimedia area can receive delicate gifts. Hope citizens come to visit and challenge.
